The Reading Corner brings quintessential stories to the eyes and ears of young students. Developed by the Northern Kenya conservation Clubs (NKCC) it aims to inspire children with a love and understanding of the natural world.
NKCC is an after-school program that helps young students understand their relationship with the environment and the world around them. They follow a curriculum with lessons that help them learn about nature and their role in the world. The lessons include presentations, games, and stories, making the students active learners. Reading stories helps students engage with the lesson in a more interactive way, compared to the traditional classroom setting, and also helps illustrate the topic. At the end of the story, the reader asks the viewers a few comprehension questions to check understanding. All of the stories connect back to the curriculum for the clubs.
